Transforming Young Hearts and Minds in Rubavu
From July 25–27, 2024, SolidAct Foundation brought the Rise & Shine Youth Summer Camp to GS Sanzare in Rubavu District, creating a safe and inspiring environment for 92 primary school children aged 7–14. The Rubavu edition was designed to help young learners heal emotionally, discover their God-given talents, and build confidence as future leaders.
A Journey of Healing and Renewal
Many children in Rubavu face emotional challenges linked to family conflict, loss, and social pressure. Day 1 of the camp focused on emotional healing and restoration, where children shared personal stories, learned about God’s unconditional love, and practiced forgiveness.
Symbolic activities—like candle lighting, reflective conversations, and worship—helped the children release emotional burdens and regain inner peace.
Discovering Talents and Hidden Potential
Day 2 introduced participants to talent discovery, helping them understand the difference between gifts and talents.
Children confidently showcased abilities in:
- Singing and music
- Football and sports
- Storytelling and drama
- Leadership & service
- Art and creativity
For many, this was the first time their talents were recognized, affirmed, and celebrated.
Planning for the Future
On Day 3, children created personal development plans, including monthly and weekly goals to grow their skills at home and school. They learned how talents can shape careers, open opportunities, and glorify God.
Stories That Touched Our Hearts
The Rubavu camp revealed powerful testimonies of transformation.
One young boy, Gad, shared how harsh words and beatings at home had made him shy and withdrawn. After the healing session, he regained hope and courage. His mother was engaged for follow-up support, reinforcing our belief that true transformation includes families.
Overcoming Challenges
Many children walked long distances from their homes to the school, leading to late arrivals. Despite this, their excitement and commitment remained high. Facilitators increased engagement activities, movement games, and personalized support to maintain energy and participation.
A Step Toward a Brighter Future
The Rubavu Summer Camp was more than a 3-day program—it was a life-changing moment for dozens of young children.
Through the support of our partners—EPC Africa, Global Family Succour Organization, Rabagirana Ministry, and Ellel Ministry—we ignited hope, strengthened confidence, and inspired the next generation of leaders.
SolidAct Foundation remains committed to nurturing emotional well-being, talent development, and leadership in Rwanda’s youth.
