In Kigali, covering Gasabo and Kicukiro Districts, SolidAct Foundation successfully distributed school materials to 82 students from vulnerable families. This initiative, supported by Shelter Group, is part of our broader commitment to strengthening education outcomes in urban communities. Who Received Support? A total of 82 learners benefited, with distributions as follows: Gasabo District — 50 students Kicukiro District — 32 students This higher representation of secondary students reflects a strategic focus on ensuring older learners are well equipped to complete their education. Materials Provided Each student received: By providing these resources, SolidAct Foundation promotes equal access to academic tools, ensuring students can study effectively throughout the school year. Next Phase on the Way Uniforms, sweaters, and shoes have been procured and are scheduled for distribution on 29th October 2025. These additional items will help reduce dropouts and restore confidence among learners. Rise & Shine Summer Camp – SOS Kagugu Kigali Edition
Empowering Kigali’s Youth Through Healing, Talent, and Leadership From August 7–10, 2024, SolidAct Foundation held the Rise & Shine Youth Summer Camp at SOS Kagugu in Kigali, gathering 78 participants—including 52 secondary school students and 26 primary school children.This edition brought together teenagers facing emotional pressure, life transitions, and academic challenges, offering a safe space for reflection, mentorship, and spiritual growth. Emotional Healing: A Foundation for Transformation The Kigali sessions began with a deep dive into emotional and spiritual healing.Students courageously opened up about: Through prayer, counseling, group sharing, and symbolic activities, participants found healing, forgiveness, and restored hope. One secondary school girl shared:“I used to feel ashamed because my parents separated. Now I know I’m not alone, and God still has a plan for me.” Talent Discovery: Awakening Purpose The camp helped young people explore talents such as: Many students realized they had skills they had been ignoring.Nicole, one participant, said:“I discovered that my talent is valuable, and I will start developing it.” Developing Vision and Discipline Participants developed personal vision boards, goal-setting plans, and weekly action steps.They learned how school clubs, church activities, and community service can help build their identity and shape their future careers. Boys & Girls Breakout Sessions Age-appropriate discussions addressed topics like: These sessions gave youth a safe space to ask questions and seek guidance. A Camp Filled With Energy and Engagement The Kigali edition included: The energy, passion, and openness of the SOS Kagugu youth made this camp unforgettable. Unique Challenges—and How We Solved Them Some facilitators traveled from distant areas with no accommodation, creating arrival delays.To solve this, SolidAct Foundation increased facilitator numbers and improved activity planning to keep sessions consistent. Building Rwanda’s Future Leaders The SOS Kagugu camp proved that Rwanda’s young people are full of potential. They simply need a safe place to heal, dream, and grow.This camp aligned with Vision 2050 and NST2, promoting mental health, education, talent development, and leadership among Rwanda’s youth. Rise & Shine Summer Camp – Rubavu Edition (GS Sanzare)
Transforming Young Hearts and Minds in Rubavu From July 25–27, 2024, SolidAct Foundation brought the Rise & Shine Youth Summer Camp to GS Sanzare in Rubavu District, creating a safe and inspiring environment for 92 primary school children aged 7–14. The Rubavu edition was designed to help young learners heal emotionally, discover their God-given talents, and build confidence as future leaders. A Journey of Healing and Renewal Many children in Rubavu face emotional challenges linked to family conflict, loss, and social pressure. Day 1 of the camp focused on emotional healing and restoration, where children shared personal stories, learned about God’s unconditional love, and practiced forgiveness.Symbolic activities—like candle lighting, reflective conversations, and worship—helped the children release emotional burdens and regain inner peace. Discovering Talents and Hidden Potential Day 2 introduced participants to talent discovery, helping them understand the difference between gifts and talents.Children confidently showcased abilities in: For many, this was the first time their talents were recognized, affirmed, and celebrated. Planning for the Future On Day 3, children created personal development plans, including monthly and weekly goals to grow their skills at home and school. They learned how talents can shape careers, open opportunities, and glorify God. Stories That Touched Our Hearts The Rubavu camp revealed powerful testimonies of transformation.One young boy, Gad, shared how harsh words and beatings at home had made him shy and withdrawn. After the healing session, he regained hope and courage. His mother was engaged for follow-up support, reinforcing our belief that true transformation includes families. Overcoming Challenges Many children walked long distances from their homes to the school, leading to late arrivals. Despite this, their excitement and commitment remained high. Facilitators increased engagement activities, movement games, and personalized support to maintain energy and participation. A Step Toward a Brighter Future The Rubavu Summer Camp was more than a 3-day program—it was a life-changing moment for dozens of young children.Through the support of our partners—EPC Africa, Global Family Succour Organization, Rabagirana Ministry, and Ellel Ministry—we ignited hope, strengthened confidence, and inspired the next generation of leaders.
